Celebrate the January 2025 Stage 32 Community’s Successes
Hellooooo, Stage 32 Community!
2025 is off and running! Hope everyone is doing well and working towards achieving your goals for this new year!
With that said, here we go with the first Success Story Roundup of 2025! This is our monthly salute to just some of the amazing and talented members of the Stage 32 community who have had some success to tout from this past month. This year really does feel like it’s kicking off with a bang, as we have some fantastic stories to share. We sincerely enjoy reporting on the successes of these hard-working writers and creatives, seeing this progress is part of what makes working at Stage 32 such a great place!
We are extremely cognizant of the heart and soul you all put into your work every day, and we want you to know that we see you, and we are here for it. And when that hard work pays off with some honest-to-goodness progress and movement, nothing makes us happier!
Without further ado, let’s dive into the signings, deals, meetings, script requests, and some of the super duper happenings from the month of January…
Success Stories
Congrats to member and filmmaker Joey Wojcik. Our own Executive Liaison Nick Phillips (aka me) has added his name as an Executive Producer to Joey’s short film Expressway to Your Skull, as preparations are made to take the film out on the festival circuit. They connected on a Short Film Review + 30 Minute Call. Ready to rock, Joey!
Congrats to member Gary A. Piazza. The film he wrote, Dig Me No Grave, was recently released on Amazon Prime and other streaming platforms. Gary cites coverage he received from execs Julia Verdin and Alex Kirschenbaum as being critical to fine-tuning the script which then helped it garner more attention. Gary was even able to travel to the UK set of the film and shoot and edit BTS/Making Of footage. Kudos, Gary, that’s awesome!
Congrats to writer/director Richard Zelniker who met former Stage 32 writer turned producer Brodrick Haygood through a Stage 32 Rom Com Screenplay Contest. Brodrick was a judge and Richard’s script was selected as the winner, and they had a meeting after that. They kept in touch, and now a few years later Brodrick executive produced and co-financed a film that Richard wrote and directed called The Vortex. It will be released in a limited theatrical run at the end of February. Way to go, guys!
Congrats to writer Jane Tumminello, who has her first produced horror short. It was produced and directed by Christine Jansen, with whom Jane connected on Stage 32, and the film is now available to watch on YouTube and Vimeo. So great to see things come together like that. Amazing job, Jane and Christine!
