Coffee & Content: What Does The Future of Hollywood Look Like?

Coffee & Content: What Does The Future of Hollywood Look Like?

Happy Sunday, Creative Army!
Have you had a creative weekend so far? Whether you’ve been writing, filming, editing, or simply dreaming up your next big idea, I’ve got some inspiring content to fuel your passion and keep you moving forward. So grab your coffee, and let’s dive in.
First up, let’s talk tech. Technology is reshaping the entertainment industry in more ways than ever. From post-production tools and screenwriting software to animation programs and platforms like Stage 32 that educate and connect creatives around the world, we’ve seen a massive shift in how we work, who we work with, and what’s possible. But this week, Vanity Fair took it a step further with their video These Tech Billionaires Are Taking Over Hollywood. The piece explores how Larry Ellison’s tech empire (yes, Oracle) gave rise to two entertainment power players—his daughter Megan Ellison, who founded Annapurna and became a magnet for auteurs, and his son David Ellison, whose company Skydance is currently in talks to take over Paramount. This is big. We’re watching the old Hollywood guard shift under the influence of new money, new priorities, and new tech-driven philosophies.
Then, I’m tackling the elephant in the room: AI. Let’s be real—no one’s winning an Oscar with an AI-generated script anytime soon. But if you’re afraid of the technology, you’re already losing. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again—AI is just another tool. When you’re researching a project, what do you do? You hop on Google, you plug in keywords, you scan articles, you vet your sources—and eventually, you land on something that unlocks the next piece of your script, pitch, or production plan.
AI, when used right, is just a more streamlined version of that same process. It aggregates answers faster. It helps you brainstorm more efficiently. If you’re stuck or under deadline, it can help you get organized and focus your ever-churning brain. If you’re a writer, filmmaker, or creative of any kind, this isn’t something to fear. It’s something to learn how to use. You still have to bring the soul, the craft, and the nuance. Learn more in my video here.
What do you think? Is tech changing Hollywood for better or worse? Are you leaning into AI, or still holding out? I want to hear from you. Drop a comment and let’s talk about it!
